Alien Covenant Review

Yesterday I went to see the movie “Alien Covenant” with my boyfriend. I normally would not have picked this movie, however, I wanted him to pick a movie he wanted to see. Typically, I avoid scary movies at all costs (and had I watched the trailer for this movie before hand I probably wouldn’t have ever walked into the theatre).

The beginning of the movie was interesting. I was pretty invested in watching it and enjoyed watching it. That was until the aliens started shooting out of people’s backs.

The “birth” of the aliens was absolutely disgusting. I’ve never had an issue with blood and gross scenes in movies. There’s a first for everything. This movie actually made me feel sick to my stomach. I thought that I was going to get sick at any moment.

Apparently, there are a couple of sequels to this movie, which I have never seen. With that being said, I really didn’t follow the plot of the movie. At the end all I kept saying and thinking was “What is even happening right now”. That could also be because I spent half of the movie covering my eyes from watching the aliens. I was almost positive I would see those things in my nightmares that night.

My boyfriend said that he thought it was a good movie. He had seen the ones prior and understood what was happening. There was one scene that was pretty funny at the end.

Despite the gross scenes and scary aliens, the movie graphics and characters were great.

7/10 would recommend seeing. If you aren’t easily scared or don’t have any issues with blood and gross scenes, you would enjoy this movie.

Has anyone else seen this movie?

PetGiftBox Review

For about a year now, I’ve been receiving monthly boxes in the mail from PetGiftBox for my pup. I started ordering from this site because Groupon offered a sale, instead of paying the higher monthly fee of around $18 you could buy a month order code for $9. I started off with one month because after reading some reviews I found many that the company was charging and not sending the boxes. I was hesitant and nervous and considered simply ordering the box from the more well known brand BarkBox. However, I have had no issues with PetGiftBox since signing up.

I started purchasing these boxes after my first dog passed away, leaving my pup Ben without a friend. I went off to college and felt to replace myself and his friend Bruno, I would purchase monthly boxes for him to enjoy while I’m away. (Logical right?)

Anyways, what started out as just a test sample, ended up being a subscription for about a year now. Ben (my pup) recognizes the box and even tries to open it himself. He carries it around with pride and joy prancing around. Then he finds the treats and toys inside! He picks his favorite and carries it around with him everywhere.

Ben is a large, 3 year old black lab so finding toys that are durable and hard to tear apart is hard. Usually the toys in the boxes are stuffed animals with squeakers (which Ben hates and rips out immediately). However, after the squeaker is gone, he doesn’t really rip the toys up that much. They may have some rips and tears however, they usually end up lasting a few months.

Each month, the box contains usually two toys, mainly stuffed toys with squeakers, but not always! It also holds a couple packages of treats. The thing that I like about PetGiftBox is that they give you toys, treats, and something for the owner (pet candle, car pet scent eliminator, emergency stickers that say what animals are in the house if anything happened, etc). They send different items every month (I’ve actually never received the same thing more than once). On the website, when ordering, they also provide an option to order boxes for cats. They ask for the animals name, gender and size so that the box is completely tailored to the size of the animal. I usually receive my boxes in the middle of the month, left sitting right on my door step.

Lastly, since I am a college student on a budget, there are times when I can’t afford to pay the monthly fee for the box. The website allows you to pause your subscription of cancel it (even before the length of the subscription is over). The flexibility and control you have over when you pay and receive boxes is very convent and helpful when you are on a budget. Groupon offers the deals till every once in a while and when I find them I buy them, pause my subscriptions and pay a lesser fee.

I would definitely recommend trying out PetGiftBox if you’ve been wanting to invest in BarkBox, but can’t afford the commitment and high price. My pup is always excited to see the box sitting at the steps and loves his new toys!IMG_0320.JPG

The Walking Dead deaths I won’t ever get over

*** SPOILERS AHEAD***

***PLEASE CLOSE THIS WINDOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN UP TO THE SEASON SIX FINALE***

Now that we gave a fair warning of the spoilers you’re about to read, let’s talk about The Walking Dead. This series is by far my favorite series to watch. I make sure that I never miss an episode, no matter how busy I may be or how late Sunday Night Football may run, but usually it doesn’t interfere much, thank goodness. I have definitely grown to love the characters in the show as if I know them personally. Also I understand why some characters have to be killed off, but I still can’t get over their deaths. With that being said, let’s discuss some of the deaths that I cannot handle, yes I cried.

P.s. I’m going to go in the order of the seasons. This may turn out to simply be a list of people who died, whoops.

***One last chance to leave if you haven’t seen the latest season***

 Season One:

Amy. Amy is really one of the first close deaths we see happen. She gets bitten by a walker and then Andrea steps in to prevent her from turning. It’s a pretty emotional moment despite not knowing the group for very long.

twd1.jpg

Season Two:

Dale. Dale was truly one of my favorite characters in the first season. He had a lot of knowledge and protected the group at all times from the top of his RV. Dale’s death is definitely harder for viewers to handle since he and Glenn become so close with each other.

twd2.jpg

Shane. Okay, this is a death I can get over, but sometimes I wonder where the group would be with Shane today. Other times, I totally forget about his existence. This is one of the few deaths viewers celebrated when it happened.

twd3.jpg

Sophia. Sophia’s death was the first young and innocent child’s life that was taken in the apocalypse. Although as a viewer, you don’t get to see how it happens, you hope that somehow somewhere she will turn up alive. When she steps out of the barn as a walker and you see how distraught Carol is, you realize how much of an emotional death this was for everyone.

twd4.jpg

Season Three:

T-Dog. I just loved T-Dog , his character brought some light into the show and he was genuinely a wonderful person in the group. Just for that reason alone, I miss T-Dog’s character in the show and wonder what difference he would have made to the group in the seasons now.

twd5.jpg

Lori. Lori herself from the start was a despised character after cheating on her husband, whether he was dead or alive. This death only hits me in the feels because her one son had to kill her. Seeing Rick and Carl so upset over this death is hard to watch for anyone.

ted6.jpg

Merle. Another hard death for people to watch. Not per say because of Merle’s death, but seeing Daryl, a strong, tough character so distraught over the death of his brother. Let’s face it, Merle wasn’t always a great character, but he did prove himself to the group.

twd7.jpg

Milton. Yes, I know, he was part of an opposing force (being The Governor). But, Milton never really did anything wrong. He definitely faced a long, painful death. It dragged on for what seemed like forever.

twd8.jpg

Andrea. Again, Andrea somewhat disowned the group for The Governor’s town. But afterwards, all she was trying to do was help to make the situation better for both groups, without having to risk anyone’s life.

twd9.jpg

Season Four:

Hershel. THIS. I still cry over this. I can’t even talk about this moment because we all know that this is for sure one of the deaths we will never get over in this show. Herself survived a bit, an amputation, and even the flu. He played such a major role in the show and taught the group, especially Rick, so many valuable lessons.

twd10.jpg

The Governor. YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES. FINALLY. That was my reaction while watching this scene. He pretty much died three times, but who was counting. Justice served with this one. This I can get over.

twd11.jpg

Mika. OKAY this was just AWFUL. Her own sister killed her, what even in the heck is wrong with this. Mika was so sweet and starting to realize how to deal with the new world finally. It also kills me how close she was to killing baby Judith too.

twd12.png

Lizzie. She deserved it. Well okay, maybe not because she’s only a child. But what kind of child kills their own sister? Can we all just admit that Lizzie was actually crazy and insane and it’s better off that she’s no longer alive? Thank you Carol!

twd13.jpg

Season Five:

Beth. MY GOD. I CAN’T. End of conversation. Literally Beth was the sweetest person on the entire show and they killed her off. I’m still bitter. Do you even understand how close she was to being back with the group. I hate this so much still.

twd14.jpg

Tyreese. First Beth, and now Tyresse too! I truly hate how the whole process of Tyreese dying gave the viewers a false hope that he would live. They drag on his death for so long and as a viewer I hate to see him suffering as he was one of the really sweet characters.

twd15.jpg

Noah. Literally loathe the guy that escaped the rotating door and sacrificed Noah so that he could get away and live. This scene was actually pretty difficult to watch after the past two other deaths. As a viewer, I was worried for the group since they were losing so many influential and important members.

twd16.png

Season Six:

Deanna. To be completely honest, I was pretty fine with Deanna’s death. I didn’t necessarily love her. Although she did step up at the end of her time on the show by sacrificing herself in a way for the group. I guess she wasn’t that bad of a leader anyways.

twd17.jpg

Sam. As much as it kills me to see an innocent child die on this show, Sam literally asked for it. He couldn’t deal with the outside world and ultimately his fear lead to his death, and the death of the rest of his family unfortunately.

twd18.jpg

Jessie. I was a little more upset about Jessie’s death just because of the relationship she had began to form with Rick. I was hopeful that Carl would finally have some sort of mother like figure, but now that I’ve seen the most recent season, I am perfectly okay with this relationship with Rick ending.

twd19.jpg

Ron. Again, it’s hard to say that a child deserved to die in this show, however, if anyone deserved it, it would be Ron. I mean, he tried to kill Carl people. Do you really think you are going to get away with trying to kill the son of Rick Grimes? I didn’t think so.

twd20.png

Nicholas. THANK GOODNESS IT WASN’T GLENN. That is all.

 twd21.jpg

Denise. Denise’s death is pretty important in many ways. First it was the last (known or identified) death of the season. Second, Denise was the one person left who knew medical information and how to care for injured people, which as we know, who have come in handy when it came to Maggie’s predicament in the finale. twd22.jpg

And there we have it. All the deaths since episode one, season one of The Walking Dead. If you saw the finale, you know that the viewers are left with a major cliff hanger. Who does Negan kill? Who dies at the end of the episode?

The wait for this answer is finally going to be over in just a couple of days!

Who do you think it is?

My Top 8 Favorite Disney Rides

This September, I got the pleasure of going to Disney World! The happiest place on earth. I’ve gone quite a few times as a child but, it has been way too long since I’ve been there. I was so excited when I got the opportunity to go!

There are maaaaany amazing rides and it’s hard to just pick a few. But, I will try anyway!

1. Mount Everest

This last time I went to Disney, I rode this for the first time and absolutely loved it. We rode it twice in a row! It’s thrilling, creepy, and fun! It makes it look like the track is broken because of the Yeti. Then, you go backwards. It’s just a lot of fun.

2. The Haunted Mansion

This ones a classic and a must ride for me. The atmosphere as you’re waiting in line is amazingly spooky. It may raise your hair on the back of your neck!

3. The Pirates of the Caribbean Ride

I’m not exactly sure if that’s what it’s really called. That’s just what I’ve always called it. This one is another classic and must ride. You’ll take a ride through the story of Captain Jack Sparrow and become apart of it. Be careful not to get killed by a pirate while riding it!

4. Tower of Terror

This is another ride that I rode for the first time this last trip. I’ve always been too scared to go on it. But, it turned out to be really fun! The atmosphere on it is also really cool and spooky. You’ll go on this “elevator” and once you get to the top, you’ll suddenly drop. You go up and down a few times. It’s name is very accurate.

5. It’s a Small World

I have to put this one in my top 8. It has a special place in my heart. I loved it as a kid and I would always sing it on the bus ride back to our resort at the end of the night. The song does get stuck in your head for all eternity. But, it’s a cute little ride.

6. Toy story ride

This one is somewhat new. While you’re waiting in line, it’s like you shrunk to the size of a toy. So everything is giant. Once you’re on the ride, you have to shoot targets and it’s a lot of fun.

7. Space Mountain

It’s an indoor roller coaster and it’s dark so you really don’t know what’s gonna happen next. Sounds kinda scary but it’s a lot of fun.

8. The Frozen Ride

I love the movie Frozen and was so excited when I heard they were making a ride. It’s such a cute ride with a little twist and turns. Ride this if you get a chance! The line is usually pretty long.

Secret Life of Pets movie review

I have done this once before with Finding Dory and everyone seemed to like it, as still do! Actually, most of the “searched terms” of our blog related back to that movie review! With that being said, this past weekend my boyfriend and I went to the movie theatre to see The Secret Life of Pets movie. As I did before, I’m going to list a few of my favorite characters with a nice little description of each and then talk about my thoughts on the movie overall.

Let’s get on with the show.

max-the-secret-life-of-pets-68.6_thumb.jpgI’ll start with the most major characters and then get into the less important, but still cute characters after.

First, meet Max. In the beginning of the movie, Max seems like any ordinary dog who adores his owner. But, Max ends up wandering away from his watch post. Over the course of the movie, you can definitely see the change of behavior in Max and the relationship he has with his new friend Duke.

duke-the-secret-life-of-pets-2.56_thumb.jpgThe next main character is Duke. At first, Duke seems kind of scary and threatening to Max. Max does not like the idea of having a “brother”. He and Duke fight over their owner and who is going to be the Alpha dog of the house. Eventually, the two sort out their differences and become best friends.

katie-the-secret-life-of-pets-0.47_thumb.jpg

This is Katie. Katie is the owner of Max and the adopter of Duke. Every day, Katie leaves to go to work while her two dogs stay at home, so she thinks. But don’t worry, the two dogs always make it home in time to greet their owner at the door.

gidget-the-secret-life-of-pets-41_thumb.jpgGidget is probably one of my favorite characters. She is utterly in love with Max. She watches him from afar in her home across the way from Max. When Max goes missing, she is the first to notice (obviously! she’s in love with him!)sweet-pea-the-secret-life-of-pets-97.9_thumb.jpg

Sweet Pea is part of the crew Gidget puts together to go on the mission to find and rescue Max and Doug. Sweet Pea doesn’t really say much, but she’s there for moral support throughout the trip.

chloe-the-secret-life-of-pets-32_thumb.jpgChloe is another of my favorite characters in this movie. She definitely is the dictionary definition of a “cat”. Lazy, doesn’t really care, gets distracted by shiny things. Her personality, although slightly rude, is perfect. She is the purrrrfect mixture of sassy and I don’t care.

buddy-the-secret-life-of-pets-3.84_thumb.jpg

Buddy is another character that doesn’t really say or do much in the movie. But he does play an important role in helping the team find Max and Doug. The best scene is when he scales the side of the building to get to Pops’s apartment.

norman-the-secret-life-of-pets-72.3_thumb.jpg

Norman is a funny character for sure. He spends the majority of the time in the movie searching for his apartment. He got lost in the ventilation pipes for a long time before finding his home. But before he returns home, he adventures out with the team to find Max and Doug.

Mel mel-the-secret-life-of-pets-81.1_thumb.jpgis a pretty cute character. He’s pretty much just “part of the team” when it comes to the rescue. There isn’t much to say when it comes to Mel. He’s just there for the adventure.

pops-the-secret-life-of-pets-9.15_thumb.jpg

Pops is actually one of the main heroes when it comes to finding out where Max was. He’s an old, retired, paralyzed pup who throws crazy parties when his owner isn’t home. He knows everyone in town and for sure comes in use when knowing someone in the sewer.

tiberius-the-secret-life-of-pets-0.3_thumb.jpg

Tiberius is the last character in the gang to save Max and Doug. He seems like a vicious animal at first, however, Gidget befriends him. He comes to realize all he really wanted was a friend.

UnknownThis gang consists of Tattoo (the pig), Ripper (the bulldog), Snowball (the bunny), the Bearded Dragon and a bunch of others such as Viper and Ricky. They have named themselves the “Flushed Pets” after their owners abandoned them. Their mission is to avenge pet owners.

Now that everyone is counted for, I really loved this movie. I caught myself laughing at it multiple times. After seeing the movie, I looked up some other blog reviews. I found that other people find this movie very similar to the plot of Toy Story. While I agree that the plots are similar, I didn’t find myself thinking it during the movie. Had it not have been for reading the other blogs I wouldn’t have even put two and two together.

I found the question of “what do your pets do when you’re not home” to be hilarious. I loved how the producers and writers approached it with all different types of characters. Some partied, some watched the door, some trashed the apartments. The variety of pet personalities always kept you laughing.

The other part of this movie that I loved was the reaction of Max when Doug arrived. Max had it out for Doug, he did not think another pet was a good idea. He tried multiple things to get rid of Doug, with no success. The battery between the two was just perfect and funny. Of course, throughout their trip to the sewers and trying to find their way back home, you see the two come together. Max even cares enough about Doug to try to find his old owner. As well as save his life.

Overall, I found the movie to be very entertaining and easy to laugh at. I don’t think that it is a remake of Toy Story. However, other blogs also said that this movie kind of skips over some things that should be elaborated more on. In the moment of watching the movie, I personally didn’t see this void in the story. But looking back, there are some moments that could have been touched upon a bit better. Such as the trip to find Doug’s old owner and his response to it.

5 Romance movies you’ll love on Neflix

Everyone loves a happy ending romance movie right? If you answered no, you’re a liar. As a team, O and I have watched multiple Netflix romance movies together discussing which we loved the most. We don’t usually like romance movies without some type of happy ending, so if you’re looking for a movie that will make you sob this list isn’t for you.

Let’s quit the chitter chatter and get to the list, we all know that you’re only reading this for the movies… and let’s face the fact that you’re going to want to binge watch them the first second you have.

Our first thought on the movie we loved the most was agreeably the movie Beyond the lights. A couple of months back we watched this movie together and absolutely loved it. Since then, I’ve watched it at least three times, of course all with different people after telling them what a great movie it was. Obviously, it’s about a girl and a guy who meet kind of unexpectedly and end up completely falling for each other. It’s the process of the two falling in love that is wonderful to watch in this movie.

The next movie that came to mind was called After the Ball. In the description, this movie doesn’t appear to have much romance in it. But we promise, its perfect. A recent college graduate is trying to make her way into the fashion industry, without the help of her fashion designer icon father’s help. Of course, it doesn’t all happen the way she hopes but in the end she falls in love with both the fashion industry and someone else.

Leap Year is one of S’s favorite movies that we’ve watched on Netflix. A woman is out traveling across the country searching for the man she loves. She takes the journey to Ireland to propose to him on Leap Year, hence the title. On her way to her destination, she meets many people who help her to get there. One of which just may surprise her.

The movie In Your Eyes brings a twist to romance movies. I’ve never seen any movie that is at all similar to this one, which is probably why I liked it so much. Some romance movies are just too predictable and cheesy. But this one? The two fall in love as a result of some strange circumstance that never really made sense their entire lives, until now.

Serendipity is another one of O’s favorites. It’s a story about fate. Two people meet one night and felt like they had a spark. They decided to try something different…they let fate decide whether or not they were to meet again. It’s interesting to see how it all plays out. Whether you believe in fate or not, it’s a great movie!

Ready to spend the night (0r day) wrapped up in a blanket watching romance movies now? Yeah, we thought that would happen. Make sure to come back and let us know which romance movie on our list is your favorite! Feel free to comment any others we missed!

6 series on Netflix you NEED to watch

Netflix has become the biggest trend over the past few years. If you somehow have managed to avoid Netflix, well, you must be living under a rock. Out of the multiple, multiple, multiple television series available on Netflix there are five that you absolutely need to watch for yourself.

I’m going to start off with our personal favorite TV series of all time…

The Walking Dead:

Many people believe that this series is more based off the apocalypse. Although it takes place during one, the show focuses more on the characters and their survival. It isn’t very scary, but there are some dramatic scenes that definitely make you question who is going to come out alive (and who isn’t). There are currently five out of the six seasons of The Walking Dead available on Netflix. Have no fear, by the time you watch the entire series AMC will be playing a marathon right before the release of the new season on October 11th, 2016. They usually play the entire season in the week or so before the new premier. Which I’m sure will be insane and amazing considering how season six left off!

the walking dead.jpg

Grey’s Anatomy:

This show has been popular for a while, probably since it hit TV and then became more popular when it hit Netflix. Netflix makes it easy to watch all twelve, yes that’s right, seasons in one place. This is one of there series I myself haven’t been able to start yet. But I know tons of people that love love love this series. If twelve seasons isn’t proof that it has good ratings then I don’t know what is!

greys.jpg

Orange is the New Black:

Users of Netflix have been talking about this one a lot recently because new episodes were released. Orange is the New Black has four seasons out on right now (including the new releases!) I recently just started this series over the course of this summer. So far, I’ve binged watched an entire season in just a couple of days. There are four seasons of this popular series to watch over and over again on Netflix. Not to mention, the episodes are filled with tons of drama that definitely make you laugh from time to time!

oitnb.jpg

Fuller House:

This series is rather new to Netflix. It’s actually an original series Netflix produced to recreate the timeless TV series Full House that we all grew up watching. With it being a new series, there is only one season to binge watch, which is totally doable in a single night or two if you’re dedicated enough. It definitely brings back a lot of the old memories of watching the show and puts a smile on your face.

fuller house.jpg

How I Met Your Mother:

This series is for sure a classic when it comes to TV shows.  It’s also on television so if you just want to watch a couple episodes here and there instead of binge watching it this series is perfect for you! It will have you laughing constantly. Sometimes, it will make you mad. But what tv show doesn’t? It is can also get a little inappropriate so it’s definitely for a mature audience.  I often find myself comparing the 5 main characters to my group of friends so it can be relatable. I highly recommend it!

himym.jpg

Supernatural:

This show is perfect for people who love horror and comedy…..and hot guys. It’s about two brothers who are “hunters”. Meaning they go out and hunt supernatural creatures.  Hence why it’s called “Supernatural”. One minute, it will have you hiding under the blankets and the next minute, it will have you laughing. I love this series because it has many seasons so you can binge watch for days. I would totally recommend it for the more mature audience!

Finding Dory- Does it Live up to its Expectations?

If you were born in the late 90’s, Finding Nemo was one of the first movies you became obsessed with. When Finding Nemo came out I was about five years old. Now I am nineteen. Over the course of the past fourteen years, this is probably the most excited I have been for a movie to be released. To this day, I quote the Finding Nemo movie.  I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve said “He touched the butt” or “P.Sherman 42 Wallaby Way Sydney!” and “You guys made me ink”. Literally our blog email is named after Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo was all around just a quotable, fabulous movie from my childhood. With that being said, of course the Finding Dory release date has been on my calendar for months. This past Friday (actually some theaters were showing it on Thursday) was the official premiere date and I could not have been more excited. Honestly, the preview for this movie practically had me in tears. In case you haven’t seen it, or somehow survived without even hearing about this miracle movie, here is the link for the preview! ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKJA-VLpiCo )

I don’t want to give away too much of the movie in detail so first I’m going to give you a character breakdown for some of my favorites from the new movie!hank.jpg

First off, there’s Hank. Hank is an octopus who only has seven arms, referred to as a septopus. Hank is probably one of Dory’s biggest supporters throughout the movie. He definitely became one of my favorite new characters. He comes off a bit rude at first but Dory helps him to find more happiness in life. He is a major role in the movie.

rudder and flukeThese guys are named Rudder and Fluke. These sea lions may seem like a threat at first, but they are a huge help to Marlin and Nemo when they need help. They are also very knowledgable about the Aquarium.

FINDING DORYMeet Becky. Becky is a bird who seems pretty silly and well, dumb. She doesn’t make many appearances, but she leaves a mark on the movie for sure! She is called upon by the sea lions to help Marlin and Nemo when they are in a bind. Marlin may doubt her abilities, but she ends up being a trustworthy bird they can call for when they need help.

jenny and charlieOf course, we can’t forget Charlie and Jenny. I bet you won’t be able to guess who these two are. These two lovebirds- love fish?- are better known as Dory’s parents. They never gave up on Dory and show just how supportive parents are of their children.

bailey and destiny

Lastly, there’s Bailey the Beluga whale and Destiny the Whale shark. Destiny was one of  Dory’s childhood friends before she got lost. Bailey lives in the tank next to Destiny and becomes one of Dory’s assistants when finding her parents and one of her new friends.

With the introduction of a few new characters, I’d also like to add a list of some of the old characters they brought back from Finding Nemo!

These characters include…

dory1

Dory  (obviously) along with a new and improved, younger baby Dory.

marlin and nemo.jpg

Marlin and Nemo

3

Mr. Ray and the School Fish

2

Crush and Squirt

4And even a short appearance of the Fish Tank Friends at the end.

Here are my thoughts on Finding Dory vs Finding Nemo.

What is it about?

Finding Dory is (obviously) about Dory’s journey across the big ocean blue (0r the big ocean life rescue) to find the family she had lost, just as Marlin did when Nemo was taken from the drop off in Finding Nemo. I felt like the beginning of the movie was a bit rushed while traveling across the ocean but I understood why after it went on further to explore the rescue center. Plus, that would just be Finding Nemo all over again.

This movie overall made me laugh multiple times. I thought that Baby Dory was the most adorable little fish ever. Finding Dory definitely brought a good message to its viewers about the importance of family, and also friends who are considered family. It also brought up how friends can encourage you to do things you never thought you could do and how supportive they are. I find myself now asking, “What would Dory do?”. For example, how Dory was there for Marlin the entire trip across the ocean to find Nemo. And then in turn, Marlin and Nemo were there for Dory when she traveled across the ocean to California for her parents.

One factor that I really loved that this movie brought in were fish who have some from of disability. I feel like more and more children, aare born or suffer with a disability today. Although Nemo and Dory brought some sense of this in the first movie, Finding Dory takes it to a whole new level. Every fish in the marine life rescue center have some from of disability. However, these fish were still able to overcome difficult challenges and obstacles they never believed they could achieve. For example, Dory suffering from Short term memory loss. Nemo who has a smaller fin. Hank who lost a tentacle previously. Bailey who suffered a head injury. Destiny, who has a hard time seeing objects in front of her. And so on. The overall message of being able to accomplish their goals is a great one for children, and even adults, who suffer with disabilities like the fish!

I also loved their emphasis on Rescue, Rehabilitation, and finally Release. It is important with our climate change and water pollution that we take care of not only our planet, but the animals and creatures living on it. Even Dory got tangled up in some plastic during her journey across the ocean. It is important to nurse these injured animals back to health, but it is also important to release them back to where they belong, in the ocean- not aquariums or fish tanks!

Finding Dory had a bunch of references to Finding Nemo, which I loved (Just Keep Swimming, You made me ink, etc). Without giving anything important away for those who have yet to see this movie, I loved it. It lived up to all the expectations expected after fifteen years (although the movie says it has only been one) of waiting. There are a bunch of new quotable things to reference to for the next fifteen years!

Let me know what your favorite part from Finding Dory was in the comments!

Remember, Just Keep Swimming…
